Teaches in Perth, Western Australia
A little history on your Perth QiYoga® instructor Jen Kaz
I’m a Perth girl, and lived in Perth for the majority of my life. It was during a stressful time in my life that a friend suggested I try yoga. To which I replied, “why would I ever want to do that?” … and reluctantly I attended a yoga retreat with her … and I’ve never looked back! It was one of the best things I’ve ever done – thank you to my friend Miff!
It was during my early 40’s that I was working full time in my own business, with three children at primary school and feeling totally unsupported I started yoga. It was my lifesaver! Not only emotionally but physically. Meditation quieted the continual, never ending chatter in my mind and physically my flexibility improved. Also I noticed I wasn’t as ‘snappy tom’ and short with the children as I became grounded. I loved the camaraderie with the yoga ladies and retreats I attended.
I continued attending class on and off until late 2006.
In 2008 I packed the entire contents of my home and put everything in storage and flew to London in August to live with my eldest daughter, Fiona. It was then that I started again regularly practicing yoga. I was surprised how much flexibility and strength I’d lost in the couple of years I’d stopped doing yoga. Slowly I began to retain what I’d lost, and more!
Fiona had been teaching yoga in London for some time so I decided to join and help in the office with plans to travel on weekends throughout the United Kingdom. Her next 6 month intensive Teacher Training course was scheduled for September and as she wanted to travel with me, asked if I’d please put a hold on all travel plans. And besides, “Mum, what else will you be doing on weekends, the Teacher Training course will be fantastic!”.
Every second weekend I attended the teacher training and loved it! I enjoyed learning the history of yoga, study of anatomy and physiology (refresher from school days biology!), learning different forms of meditation and more than anything reading the ancient Chinese energy healing of chi-gung.
I’m thrilled I accepted the challenge and now love teaching 4 times a week. I have corporate clients as well as group and private classes.
I’ve noticed an awareness of my body and listen to messages I hear intuitively. My stamina has improved along with flexibility and all over toning.
The chi-gung gives me a natural lift on the odd occasion I feel flat.
I’m now 58 and enjoy teaching the over 40’s. I feel my style of teaching is suited to people who haven’t exercised for some time. I just love QiYoga® and my greatest wish is for everyone to spend some time each day practicing QiYoga®.
