Classes Defined

Weeks 1 -8: Qi1 Fundamentals
Qi1 is the Fundamental course for all QiYoga practitioners. It is aimed at working through each of the chakras, focusing on one of the seven chakras each week. The exercises, Asanas and meditations will focus on the chosen chakra in an attempt to broaden the practitioners understanding of the utilisation and function of our chakras.
This is for students of all levels: from the very basic level of beginners to exercise and beginners to yoga through to the advanced practitioner who wants to experience a heightened awareness of the way yoga works with the meridian system.

Weeks 8 – 16: Qi1 Advanced
This is an extension of the teachings and practices learnt in the first seven weeks about chakras. Energy feeling techniques shall be passed onto students to heighten their awareness of energy harnessing. This class will appeal to students who are focused on increasing their mind-body consciousness. It is a “more than body” class; namely it transcends the physical to work on achieving inner happiness.
Broad teachings of Pranayama shall be put to practice by the students. Breath control will be emphasised throughout all the Asanas and in the meditations.

Weeks 16 - 24: Qi2
This is available to all students wishing to further their understanding and develop their QiYoga practice at an intermediate level. The classes will focus on many tools that enable you control and power over your mind. Students will mentally and physically be able to transcend the barriers of the mind to achieve anything they put their mind to. Classes are physically and mentally more challenging than Qi1. Meditations are more also of an intermediate level, for people who have been meditating regularly for a minimum of 3 months.

Back Care QiYoga
Suitable for all people with back aches and pains: whether from bad posture or from an accident. The classes gently build up strength and flexibility in the back, but more importantly it brings the student “body awareness” so even outside of the class you are equipped with tools to consciously ease and strengthen your back. This class is recognized by doctor’s worldwide.

QIYoga dance

Interweaves the essence of QiYoga with various mudras, Qi Gong hand gestures, ballet movements, modern dance techniques with a splash of aerobics to give the practitioner a high energy, up-beat, power work out.

Launch Month: 7th FEBRUARY 2007! Please contact us for details.

De-Stress QiYoga:
Qiyoga for deep relaxation. This class involves the least strain. It is a gentle class involving very low-key stretches to loosen the muscles.

Mum’s QiYoga:
Designed for all mother’s: pre-natal and post-natal. The class comprises of gentle yoga movements and breath work that help the mother (and baby) maintain a fit and flexible mind and body. The class is structured with constant awareness of the sciatic nerve etc. with the instructor being qualified in Anatomy and physiology to answer any questions you may have regarding the movements.

Partner QiYoga:
A fun work out for people wanting to laugh but more importantly to deepen their stretches. Designed for people to practice with friends or partners outside of the class too. You do not need to always come in pairs, if there is an odd number you can pair up with the instructor.

Special Needs QiYoga:
This class is for people with high or low blood pressure, are in wheel chairs, have a broken limb, suffer from arthritis or anything that slightly debilitates them from attending a general yoga class. This class changes with the needs of the students attending. Each ailment shall be addressed in the class in the form of a well structured, fluid assembly of yoga poses.

Tailor Made QiYoga:
Come to this class and dictate to the instructor what you want to work on! Whether it be a tight neck, stiff shoulders, saw hips and knees, general flexibility etc. At the beginning of the class the instructor will ask everyone what they want to focus on and each ailment shall be addressed in the class in the form of a well structured, fluid assembly of yoga poses. As the name suggests, it is tailor made to your needs.

PowerYoga

For the advanced yoga practitioner who wants a strong workout. This class has a stronger inclination toward masculine Asanas (these are postures that men find easier to do than women; based on their upper body strength.) However it is a class for both males and females who want to be physically pushed to the limit and build up their upper body strength. Asanas are held for an extended period of time to increase the intensity. Guaranteed to take you beyond your limitations!

Launch Date: Summer 2007! Please contact us for details.

Meditation

Meditation is an essential aspect to all yoga classes. Unfortunately many people today feel they do not have the time to meditate, yet with all its vast benefits, it would be the most beneficial practice to include in our daily lives. QiYoga prepares the mind for meditation so the student is able to attain the maximum benefits to improve their wellbeing. Meditation lasts for 20 minutes and a range of meditation styles will be introduced to the student so they can adopt the one that best suits them.

Class Structure

Classes are comprised of 6 parts and run for 75 minutes:

1. Introduction - Verbal description about the theme of the lesson
2. Warm Ups - Vinyassas & meridian awakening movements
3. The Postures - A sequence of specific Asanas focused on the chosen theme
4. Breathing techniques - Will be integrated throughout the class and students will learn a specific Pranayama of the week for their meditation
5. Cool Down - Meditation allows the body and mind to rest and is an essential component for ending the class
6. Tea ceremony - This gives the student time to reflect and internalise the benefits of the class. This personalised, therapeutic herbal tea is a hand picked fresh formula relating to the needs of the student and in keeping with the theme of the class. (Duration of tea ceremony is only five minutes.)

Classes take place in a very tranquil and personalised setting:
